Kangana Ranaut VS Javed Akhtar: Actress Approaches Sessions Court Challenging Bailable Warrant Issued Against Her
As per reports, Kangana Ranaut has now approached a sessions court challenging the bailable warrant issued against her in a defamation case filed by Javed Akhtar
Lyricist Javed Akhtar had filed a criminal complaint against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in November last year for allegedly making defamatory comments against him in her interviews. On March 1, the Andheri magistrate court had issued a bailable warrant against Kangana Ranaut. This was issued after she failed to appear before the court during the hearing despite being summoned. Now, as per the latest update, Kangana has now approached a sessions court challenging the bailable warrant issued against her by magistrate court in the defamation case filed by Javed Akhtar.
According to Live Law, Kangana challenged the process issued against her by a magistrate court in Mumbai. She reportedly approached the Dindoshi Sessions Court, in a Criminal Revision Application. Kangana’s plea is scheduled to be heard on March 15. Live Law also tweeted, “The Actor has challenged the order on the grounds that mandatory compliance of Section 200 of the CrPC was not followed while issuance of process and the four witnesses named by Akhtar in his complaint have not been examination on oath. #KanganaRanaut.”
According to reports, magistrate had issued a summons on February 1, to appear in Court on March 1. However, Kangana did not show up, after which the court issued a bailable warrant against her. The complaint was filed by Javed Akhtar and he reportedly alleged that in her interviews after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Kangana brought up his name while speaking about a ‘coterie’ in Bollywood. He claimed that the ‘baseless comments’ made by the actress had damaged his reputation.
